My name is Karen D. Centeno, and I am the Head of Research and Instruction Services Librarian at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia.

Librarian, educator, and music lover! Puerto Rico and Virginia, USA. An islander, a citizen of the world. Life has allowed me to develop a career in different educational settings and levels, from K–12 to higher education.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Arts of Education and my master’s degree in Information Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Currently, I am enrolled in the Educational Specialist Program of Leadership in Higher Education at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia.

Research interests: academic libraries, information literacy, information skills, information competencies, digital reading, first-year generation, international education, international librarianship.

Daily life: I love cooking, traveling, reading (of course…), crocheting, singing, and photography. Nothing is more wonderful than listening to the ocean waves while walking on the beach.
